No, this is not Charles Schultz. This is George Washington Carver, the father of the peanut. If you don't know who he is, do everyone a favor and prostrate yourself right now and beg for forgiveness, while apologizing profusely...DO IT NOW!! Not only did this man figure out over 300 uses for the peanut but, he actually turned down an BOATLOAD of cash (between patents and otherwise) just to continue researching what he loved, Agricultural Chemistry. Just wanted to give him the proverbial "shout out" and recognize that he was a truly great American. That, and the fact that I LIVE off of peanut butter. KAMPAI!...peanut.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of peanut related products, except Reese's PB cups. It's not easy turning down copious amounts of money but he did it, and more power to him. You have to appreciate and applaud GWC for his passion and desire to fulfill his love of peanuts and all of its benefits.
ReplyDeleteGood post. It's always good to give props to people who are often overlooked in history.
wow, i did not know he came up with 300 uses for peanut butter. i did know he discovered the peanut, or peanut butter. but i did not know he did research in agricultural chemistry. way to go i learned something new today. i miss charles schultz, peanuts was one of my favorite comic strips. i also use to like tumbleweeds, which has been out of the paper long before charles schultz passes away, i need to look up who use to draw it. it was a favorite of my dad's also. i am adding a link so you can checkout tumbleweeds for yourself!!!
